As I’m sure you’ve heard breakfast is the most important meal of the day. This is especially true if you are trying to lose weight and/or regularly exercising. It has the effect of reactivating your metabolism after it lowers due to sleep. What is also very important for your breakfast selection is the contents. In my opinion a “balanced breakfast” is a small meal which consists of a mix of carbs, proteins, and fats. This insures that you have a smooth supply of energy until you get to lunch. So to help you with the good life, I’ll give you some of my favorite choices for breakfast!
Hard Boiled Egg – One of the easiest, you can just put an egg into a pot of water on the stove and heat it while you shower (what I do). It has a good mix of protein and fat, so you will have a good energy flow. It’s better partnered with a little fruit or cereal though, so you can get more quick energy.
Toast – It’s very easy to make if you have a toaster. But to really get the maximum energy gain, I make cheese toast. All you have to do is put some cheese on the toast before you put it in a toaster oven. Of course, don’t try this in a traditional toaster unless you want a mess.
Yogurt – Many yogurts already have sugar added, so you get a solid mix of all three types of energy. It’s good for a lasting energy, but due to a lower fat content you usually run out of energy a little faster. It’s really good on the go though – no preparation necessary!
Cereal – I have to say, Special K Red Berries is to die for. I could snack on it all day, every day. But cereal on its own is in my opinion a little lacking. Mix in some milk and you’ll get more even energy. For more energy and to make it that much tastier, chop up a banana or throw some blueberries in. It gives you a tasty extra boost of fruit!
Rice – This requires a little more preparation (like a rice cooker set the night before). But once it’s done, mixing a little seaweed in with it gives it a tasty protein boost. I know it’s a little bland for all of you, but this is probably the healthiest choice out of them all.
Oatmeal – Unless this has a lot of sugar added, it will be a little bland, but this too is very good for you. It’s all carbs though, so make sure you have a glass of milk with it. If it is too bland, you can always add in some brown sugar!
Well, now you have 6 very easy, very tasty breakfast ideas! Another great idea is to have a glass of orange juice every morning. You get a serving of fruit, some vitamin C (extremely important!), and a little extra energy to get you through the day. Now get out there and go for the good life!
