Well, as we all know, winter is here till at least the end of this month. I know it is amazingly cold here – and that drives people inside, where diseases like the cold and flu can be passed on with ease. And now I’m going to share with you two Chinese homeopathic remedies for the cold! When I was sick a while back, my Chinese friend taught these to me, and surprisingly they do make a difference. The first thing you have to do, however, is determine whether your cold is “cold” or “hot”. If you have cold symptoms you should have the hot remedy and vice versa – “balancing” your body, if you will. “Cold” means symptoms like a runny nose or chills. Characteristic of “hot” is a fever. So once you determine which remedy you need, choose the appropriate remedy!
If you have hot symptoms: You need to procure lemons and honey. First you should juice the lemons. Next, add a little water to dilute the lemon juice. Next add in as much of the lemon pulp as you like. Finally add in honey until the mixture is sweet, and refrigerate. I’m guessing this works because of the huge amount of vitamin C in lemons, made drinkable by the honey. I know it helped me out a lot (but admittedly I forgot to dilute with water, which made a very sour and very sweet mixture). You can think of it as Chinese lemonade!
If you have cold symptoms: You need a few Asian pears, and again honey. Slice the pears into chunks and put into a small pot. Bring the water in the pot to a boil. Add in honey to taste, and make sure it is mixed well. Cover the pot and let it stand on the burner for ten to fifteen minutes. Serve warm or hot. It’s sweet Chinese pear soup!
Admittedly I have no real reason with which to explain how these remedies work. But I can vouch for their effectiveness – Both of them helped me get over my sickness more rapidly. It is possible that the effects can be attributed to the placebo effect though. So I suppose just believe your cold should be going away, and it just might! Perhaps that is the best remedy of them all.
