Energy Drinks: Try a Few New Options

I’m sure many of you have hopped into the whole energy drink and vitamin water craze. I mean, sure, it’s not the newest thing anymore, but it’s definitely still hot. I’m here to let you know about two drinks I recently found which I am now working into my diet. Of course remember I don’t recommend anything I don’t try myself! So hopefully I can help you kick a soda habit here and switch you over to something that offers a little more energy.

First is my current favorite energy drink – XS! It comes in 12 different flavors, which means it’s sure to have a flavor which will appeal to you. But what appeals to me most isn’t just the flavor, it’s the energy source. Most energy drinks rely on large quantities of sugar and caffeine to boost you, but as I’m sure many of you know this doesn’t last. The sugar takes the caffeine into your blood with it giving you a sugar and caffeine rush, which is soon over. XS on the other hand uses vitamin B12 as its energy source. As I hope you all know, vitamins and carbohydrates are treated differently by your body. With sugars, your body will sop up as much as it can – it just can’t get enough of the stuff. This of course leads to weight gain and as you know sugar highs and lows. Water soluble vitamins such as B12 are handled totally differently though. Your body will still absorb all of the vitamin B12, but any excess instead of being used will simply be discarded by your body. It also has no calories. As a result, your body takes all the vitamin B12 it needs from the drink and the tiny amount of sugar in it (it has about 8 calories of sugar, which is required to aid in your body’s absorption of the B12 vitamin), and generates a smooth current of energy for you. There are no highs or lows. It’s a really great change compared to other energy drinks.

If vitamin water is more your thing, you can get twist tubes to make your own vitamin water. It has the blend of vitamins you need in many tasty flavors. But of course you could get this from almost any other vitamin drink, so why this one? The key here is the price point. One pack averages to 50 cents a bottle. The secret here? You mix it yourself! Just take some purified or tap water, open up one of these containers and mix. Bam, you just saved two dollars. Imagine if you had one vitamin water a day, and switched to these twist tubes. You’d be saving 2 dollars a day, averaging to over 650 dollars saved in a year! Think of what you could do with that extra money! Another advantage is that in most vending machines, the vitamins tend to settle towards the bottom of the drink, meaning you don’t get the full benefit. But if you mix it then drink it, you’re getting every last bit of those vitamins and minerals!

So at the very least, check these out. Go ahead and order some of your favorite flavor, and I bet you won’t be disappointed. And as a little bonus, I’ll give you a tasty recipe for my favorite flavor of XS: Root Beer. Get some no fat low sugar ice cream, and guess what you can make with it! A healthy root beer float and what’s more, it tastes fantastic. You haven’t lived till you’ve tried one! It’s a great reward after one of those days when you really go all out and blow yourself out exercising.  Go out and get some at http://healthy.pinurl.com!

I think this speaks for itself.
