Guest Contribution: The Formula to be a Leader

Most of the leaders have a common habit – they read just like you and I drink, eat, or breathe. This thirst for knowledge is why they can become a leader. Well, I personally have benefited from reading books. I can see the power of reading has changed my life, believe it or not.

Let me tell you a short story. I have a lot of friends who have recently graduated from college. When I was chatting with them, I found out that most of them have a common thought – No more reading from now onwards. I was quite shocked to find that out, because I have benefited so much from readings.

Curiosity has aroused me and led me to ask my friends a question, “Why you don’t like to read?” Although I expect to hear some ‘extraordinary’ reasons from them, I was pretty sure that 99% of the people would say they are too busy; they don’t have time to read. Apparently, my prediction was correct. As we all know though, leaders are usually busier one than anyone else. Why would they have time to read?

Folks, reading is not that hard! Let me ask you, “Do you go to bathroom everyday?” I believe most of you do, am I right? So, you should just grab a book and use that valuable five to ten minutes to read ten pages. Please don’t get out from bathroom before you finish reading. After a year, you’ll definitely be surprised that you have already read 3650 pages, which is roughly equivalent to a bachelor degree. Isn’t that amazing?

Here’s a list of books that can bring you a good leadership life, I highly recommend them to you:

1.      The Peak to Peek (Robert Schuller)

2.      The Friendship Factor (Alan Loy Mcginnis)

3.      The Choice (OG.Mandino)

4.      The Greatest Miracle in the World (OG Mandino)

5.      The Magic of Thinking Big (David J. Schwartz)

6.      The Fine Art of Small Talk (Debra Fine)

7.      The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People (Stephen R. Covey)

8.      The Slight Edge: Secret to a Successful Life (Jeff Olson)

9.      Ten powerful Phrases for Positive People (Rich DeVos)

10.  Acres of Diamonds (Russell H. Conwell)

I have proudly presented to you the formula to be a leader.  Leader = Reader.
