Affiliate marketing, ever heard of it? I know some of you have. You’ve also probably heard that people are making good money from it. While it might not provide you with the funds you need to travel the world and live the good life, it can provide you with some funds for that hot date Friday night. Affiliate marketing is basically when a company pays you to market their product, usually online. This type of marketing can either be paid for products you sell directly, or you can earn money from sending a website leads. The best part about affiliate marketing is that you don’t have to pay a dime to do it.
You can earn money from referrals that you send a company after a potential client/customer reads a blog post, hub page, twitter post, or other free social media posts. Yep, it’s true, all it really takes is convincing someone they need to check out a company’s product. How many times have you “clicked to read more”, or followed the “click here to live the good life” (no, I’m not doing an affiliate program, yet)? It’s not a scam, not at all. It’s giving the consumer enough teaser information that makes them want to learn more. During those times when you were clicking away did you even think about how much that person or company that sent you to another site was getting paid for your actions. Well, maybe you did because you might have just got sent to a hard sell “splash page” were someone is seeking some kind of miracle drug to enlarge your beauty or something. However, most of the time it is done so smoothly that you don’t even realize what happened. So how hard do you think that can be? Want to know something? It’s not really hard at all.
In today’s social network frenzy web 2.0 Internet, everyone is checking out the sites. Following tweets and writing on walls. You may be checking out the hottest squid sites or following some kind of hub. In fact you may already have your own blog. Well why not give your favorite affiliate program a shout out. All you have to do is find a product these affiliates are offering, give the product a run down, and send that visitor packing (hopefully to the affiliate link). It doesn’t even have to be a hard sell, in fact if you do try to hard sell chances are they are just going to leave. Just be natural, tell it like it is. After all, you only need to have one person convert to a sell to make a few bucks. If you do that a couple of times a month, you got yourself dinner and a movie. Do it a lot and you have dinner, a movie, and maybe a date. Now that my friend is living the good life!
I’m not going to do any plugs for affiliate marketing but I will tell you it is easy to find them. Just do a Google search for “affiliate marketing” and you should find the most popular at the top. It is best to go with a company like Amazon or EBay (I know, I said I wouldn’t do it) because they are familiar companies that people know and trust, well sort of.
