One of the keys to living the good life is the ability to let go. To go out on a limb and try something new. Have you ever wanted to try something but thought it would be a waste of time or too hard? How are you going to know until you try it? It doesn’t have to be an exotic vacation or a magnificent achievement, just anything out of your norm would do. An adventure could be as simple as taking a hike in your own area to explore the world as you have never seen it. Perhaps it could be as complex as taking a hike in a 3rd world country. Whatever it is, just make an attempt. The key to seeking enjoyment is knowing your limits. After all, how could you call it the good life if you are constantly terrified (unless your into that sort of thing). Here are some things you could try:
Hiking
Hiking is one of the simplest adventures one can take. Most of the time you can go hiking right in your own area. If you don’t know of any place to hike in your area just do a quick Google search for “hiking in (insert your area)”. If that doesn’t work then check out your local YMCA or other community center and just ask. Most of the time during the summer months many of these recreation centers have weekly trips to a special hiking area close by. Just remember to bring plenty of water and do some pre-game stretches.
Learn a new language
Why not? Have you ever sat next to someone on the bus that was speaking another language and you wished that you knew what they were saying? Have you ever came up with a cool idea for a video game but don’t know how to program? A new language can be the spoken word or a computer programming language. Interesting enough, when you are learning a new language you often learn about the associated culture. After all, how are you going to learn the dialect if you don’t understand where it is coming from. Besides learning the new language, you may learn how other societies live the good life.
Write
You don’t have to go out and write yourself a novel. You don’t need to keep a secret diary. However you do need to open your mind. Get things off your chest. Next time that guy cuts you off in traffic, vent about it. Get on Twitter and let the whole world know about the crazy drivers that only seem to drive around you. Start a blog and tell everyone about the crazy adventures you have decided to take up. Writing can help alleviate stress, and vent frustrations. After all what’s the use of living the good life if you can’t share it?
Whatever it is that you have thought about doing, just do it! You never know what you will discover in your adventures. Get off the couch and start your path to the good life.
