Feeling Healthier for a Good Life

How healthy do you feel today? Many times we wake up in the morning and feel like our bodies just won’t get out of bed and we don’t feel like we can even make it through the day. And most days we come home feeling that all we are capable of is eating dinner and going straight to bed. Unbeknownst to us, this has a great effect not only on us, but our families as well. We find less time to spend with them and we almost never have energy to even talk to them anymore. And for all the single people out there – just because you’re alone, it doesn’t help to always feel tired that there’s nothing better to do than to sleep in all weekend.

A lot of times, this lack of energy and excess sluggishness are caused by our own lifestyles and diet. Aside from personal drive and motivation, most times the case is that your spirit is willing, but your body is weak. For those out there, especially women, who love to have the box of chocolates to get them through a bad day, this is a bad remedy that will make you feel better for no more than a few hours. High sugar content in food will give you that ultimate, soothing sugar high to get you through a bad moment, but it will come back to haunt you as you exhaust the burst of energy and feel limp afterward. Not to mention you may even gain a few pounds. So stop on the sugar and focus on natural sugars from fruits and natural juices instead.

Another way to try to keep your body cleansed and healthy is to drink lots of water. Drinking water flushes out unwanted toxins in your body and keeps your skin hydrated and your breath fresh as well. Drinking lots of water will also have a great effect on regulating kidney functions and keeping you feeling energized. If you tend to have dry skin and hair, getting a little more than the required 8 glasses of water a day will do wonders in keeping skin and hair feeling smooth and soft. Water is a wonderful natural detoxifying agent for the body.

A great way to stay energetic is to expend energy through a physical activity that will keep muscles limber and supple. Even a brisk walk in the mornings can raise your energy levels to as much as five times as compared to if you just roll out of bed and go straight to work. By getting proper exercise your body will respond in kind and help you retain needed energy and well-regulated blood flow to the necessary organs that need it. So having a quick jog two hours before work will help you keep energized and focused while you work behind your desk during the day.

Lastly, get at least your 8 hours of rest every night. It may not be a good idea to get more than an hour over that, even on weekends, or you’ll end up feeling sluggish. And don’t get less than 7 hours of sleep if you can help it. If you get less than 8 hours in one day, catch no more than a 10-minute power nap to re-energize yourself when you feel sleepy. Anything more than 10 minutes will make you groggier than ever.

So, it’s simple. Want to feel healthier? Eat right, drink right, exercise right, and sleep right. These are the basics, but once you have these down, other problems will be much easier to handle with a clearer head and a healthier, stronger body.
