How to Have a Good Life Being Who You Are

It’s quite ironic how we as human beings are so critical about ourselves. When you really take a close look at it we are our own worst critics. What others may see as being minor flaws within us seem to be very major ones to us.
It’s these flaws that often leads us to having a lot of unhappiness in our life. Perhaps we see our flaws in our physical appearance. If these flaws seem that serious to us than what may happen is that we become introverted and don’t know how to be our spouse the our chances on how to have a good life are reduced. This means that we miss out on a great deal of the joy and the social aspects of life itself.
If you really want to overcome this then chances are you may not be able to change the flaws within yourself that you find so upsetting which means that you have to learn of a way to deal with them and come to grips with them.
Ideally what you want to do is sit down and give yourself a critical overview of all the areas of your personal life that you are discontent with. Make a list of these.  Then from this list determine which ones you can do something about and identify those that you cannot. For example you may feel that you are overweight. Then there are things that you can do about this. However, you may find that you have brown eyes and wish they were blue. There’s really not much you can do about this unless of course you want to get the colored contact lenses. Basically what I am explaining for you to do here is to be honest with yourself and start to concentrate on how to accept the things that you cannot change.
To begin with there are lots of things that you can do to camouflage what you consider as the flaws in your personal appearance. For example if it’s your eye color that you’re not happy with it then go for a dynamic hairstyle that really complements the color of your eyes and you may find that this coloring is not so bad after all
Let’s go beyond the appearance factor and looked at some of the personality flaws.
Many individuals wish that they could be more flamboyant than what they are. There aren’t too many people that are really 100% totally satisfied with their personality. If there are things about your personality that really concern you then again take a close look at what you can change about it. If you find that you are shy and withdrawn when in a social setting then look for ways to change this by perhaps taking some courses that will work on your self-esteem.
On the other hand if you have a speech impediment and you can’t change this then start to learn to be comfortable with it.
There is no doubt that the suggestions I’ve made here are much easier said than done. The whole purpose though is for you to gain your confidence in knowing that you have done as much as what you possibly can to change the flaws .  By really taking a close look at them you will find that living with them is not going to be near as difficult as perhaps what it has been in the past.
